How will sportsearch work?

Each young person will complete 11 physical and fitness related tasks in PE. The task results are then entered in a PC running the sportsearch application. This can be done as part of ICT for PE, or as a discrete cross-curricular link between PE and ICT. The young person then answers a number of questions about their own sporting preferences and sportsearch provides information and a ranked list of sports that the young person may wish to pursue.

As well as providing the young person with a list of sports that may accommodate their physical attributes, sportsearch will also provide access to a database of geographically proximate clubs and link to NGfL ‘Community Grids’. The onus will remain with the young person as to whether they contact the club or follow the links. Guidance from teachers will assist young people with their choices.
